CIA Distinguished Intelligence Cross Awarded To Michael “MJ The Terrible” Johnson For Acts of Extraordinary Heroism

During the 73 year history of the Central Intelligence Agency, only a handful of people have been awarded the Distinguished Intelligence Cross. The Distinguished Intelligence Cross(DIC) is the highest decoration awarded by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). It is one of the rarest awards for valor an individual can receive. It is the CIA’s equivalent of the U.S. Military’s Medal of Honor.

The Distinguished Intelligence Cross is awarded for “a voluntary act or acts of extraordinary heroism involving the acceptance of existing dangers with conspicuous fortitude and exemplary courage”.

Central Intelligence Agency Distinguished Intelligence Cross award recipients are awarded secretly and are rarely known to the public, due to the classification level of the operation, and often cannot be displayed, discussed or acknowledged publicly.

John T. Downey (Held captive in China for more than 20 years before being released in 1973)
